Description
Bring money for train and plenty of water and a packed lunch and snacks.
Taking a minibus to Knighton station we travel on the 10.50 train to Bucknell. After walking through the village, we ascend up through the beautiful Bucknell Wood with many oak and beech trees until we break out of the woodland with great views to the north over the Shropshire countryside as well as the lesser known Caer Caradoc hill fort.
We then have a mainly flat three mile walk along high plateau until climbing up to meet the Offa’s Dyke path and far-reaching views over the Teme valley and beyond. It is then a relatively easy walk back to Knighton (although it does include a very steep downhill section) and the station to pick up the minibus for the journey back to Kington. There are no stiles and the terrain underfoot is good.
