Photography Competition 2017
How to Enter
Please send JPEG files NOT larger than 10MB.
Closing date: October 31st 2017.
The competition is open to all who take part in the walks, up to 3 photographs may be entered of any subject but the images must have been taken during the 2017 Walking Festival. Entries will be displayed on the Kington Walking Festival website
Please state for each photo:
1. The date and location of the photo
2. The title
3. Your name and email
All photographs will be judged on the following criteria:
• Technical ability – the use of light and exposure
The competition will be judged by photographers with a connection to the area:
Jane Dickinson, photographer and teacher
Andy Compton, local award winning PR, marketing and professional press photographer.
Charlie Hopkinson has been photographing landscapes for over twenty years. His work appears regularly in Gardens Illustrated.
Nigel Sheath, local landscape photographer
All entries must be received by the advertised closing time and date.
There will be one overall winner with a runner up and Highly Commended at the discretion of the Judges.
The closing date is 18.00 31st October 2017.
All winners will be notified by email by 1st December 2017.
All images submitted must be the work of the individual submitting them and must not have been published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other photographic competition. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images they submit have been taken with the permission of the subject and do not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws. Entrants must warrant that the photograph they are submitting is their own work and that they own the copyright for it.
No parties will be responsible in any way for the publication of an entry that is subsequently found to be in breach of copyright. Any such entry will be immediately disqualified.
Copyright of all images submitted for this competition remains with the respective entrants.
Any entry submitted to the site may be used by Kington Walking Festival for marketing and promotional purposes of the competition or exhibition tour for a maximum of 24 months after the entry is uploaded. You are therefore granting Kington Walking Festival a non-exclusive, irrevocable licence for each entry giving worldwide use in all media for any promotional activity relating to the event for this period of time.
Any image submitted by you and used by Kington Walking Festival for promotional purposes will be credited to you. Any failure to provide such credit line shall not be deemed to be a breach, as long as the organisers of Best Shots attempt to add a credit line as soon as is reasonably possible after the oversight has been reported.
You are responsible for protecting your entry against image misuse by any third party.
If persons are identifiable, you are required to ensure that any people depicted in any image you submit has granted permission to be portrayed as shown.
Relatives of the judges are ineligible for entry. The judges are independent of the committee and sponsors.
The judges decision is final.
